CHESTNUTS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Update 29.05

Dear Families,

I hope you have all managed to enjoy some of the sunshine this week, it has been such lovely weather.

As I am sure you are aware we have been busy preparing to safely welcome more children back to school in a controlled and phased way. This will start with Year 6 next week. I have created a page on the website for information relating to this, with year group pages for specific information relating to those families.

In primary schools, the government has made it very clear that social distancing in the way we all understand it (remaining 2 metres apart at all times) is simply not possible. Instead schools have been asked to reduce risks br grouping pupils into 'bubbles' of no more than 15 pupils and to prevent pupils in one bubble to mix with another bubble. Within the bubbles, children will be required to practice good hygiene and will ensure there is additional cleaning, hand washing and sanitizing. We will not be insisting that children remain 2 metres apart at all times within the bubbles. We believe that this is will be very important in ensuring children are happy at school. Please do let us know if there is anything you feel we need to know about the time we have not been in school to best support your child emotionally.

We will continue to provide remote learning opportunities for all children in each year group.

After listening to feedback from lots of families, we feel that children need more of a connection with their class and teacher. To faciliate this, each class teacher will hold a weekly zoom meeting with their class. We have decided this will be best done in groups of 15. Please look out for a link to join the meeting with all the details including time etc. During this catch up, teachers will let children know what is expected in terms of learning that week and there will be an opportunity to have a 'chat'. Guidelines for these zoom meetings will be shared shortly.

Should you have any questions about any of the above, please email your child's class teacher.

To ensure that the school site reamins as safe as possible we will be asking parents to email or call the school office with any questions. The office will only be open to parents by appointment.

Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all soon,

Mrs Horwood
