CHESTNUTS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Update 13.05

Dear Families

As promised, further details of the planned reopening of primary schools have now been published by the Department for Education. In response, the school's leadership team is currently making plans to enable the school to open to some pupils immediately after half term.

In the first instance, this would be for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. Currently the proposed date for return, Monday 1st June, is the earliest date that these year groups could return, however the final decision would depend on infection rates being sufficiently low and the government's other tests being met.

Once these year groups return, remote learning would continue for Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 until such time that schools are required to open for all children. The government is optimistic that all children will return this side of the Summer break. I really hope this is possible.

As I am sure you can imagine, the logistics involved in reopening the school whilst ensuring risks to the whole community's health are minimised, are complex. I hope to be able to update you all on the specific arrangements for each year group early next week.

Thanks for all your support,

Mrs Horwood
