I hope you are all keeping well and have had a good week? We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming Year 6 back to school this week and have been getting to grips with our new (hopefully temporary) normal. We cannot wait for Year 1 to start next week. Our keyworker provision has grown extensively since half term as well.
The government announced this week that they had scrapped their plans to get all primary aged children back in school before the summer holidays. I know this will have been a huge disappointment for you and of course your children. This week I have held meetings with the Governing body and SLT to discuss what we can achieve at Chestnuts. These discussions are on-going and I will let you know more as soon as we are clear what is realisticly possible for the children at Chestnuts.
We are also planning for a range of scenarios for September and are waiting for clear governemnt guidance about what this may look like. Whilst we wait we are planning for different options. This includes which teacher will teach which class.
I hope that the children have enjoyed their zoom meetings and that you have found the new home learning pages easier to navigate. We are continuously reviewing what we can provide for your children at home.
I know that the past few weeks have also been difficult for so many members of our community with Black Lives Matter being discussed at various levels. As an SLT we are reviewing our curriculum and looking what we can add to ensure that we are clear and representative in our teaching. We will share details once we have finished. This weekend there is a socially distanced walk against racism in the local area. Please see the poster attached.
As ever, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask your child's class teacher or myself.
Have a lovely weekend,
