Chestnuts Charter
In 2017 the governors at Chestnuts rewrote the vision for the school, in order to reflect the goals and aspirations of our school community.
When Mrs Horwood joined the school she decided to develop these ideas into values and targets for the children to work towards.
To begin the process, Mrs Horwood decided to redesign the school logo in line with the new ideas for the Charter.
We were very lucky as a school as one of our parents is a graphic designer, Alex Davies, who offered to work with a group of children and Mrs Horwood to develop ideas. They came up with many! Eventually they settled on the idea of a big C split into 8 parts made up of different colours representing the core values of the school which are:
Respect
Curiosity
Ambition
Tolerance
Respectfulness
Creativity
Responsibility
Compassion
We have now fully incorporated the 8 values into the school ethos, celebrating it in assembly and discussing what these values mean. When a child demonstrates any of the values in the Chestnuts Charter, they are sent a postcard to their home recognising their achievement.
