Attainment, Progress & Assessment
At Chestnuts we are constantly assessing the children's achievements and progress. This is done daily through marking and children self assessing their own learning, Through leaders monitoring of books, planning, teaching and learning and learning environments. Children at all stages at Chestnuts make at least good progress from their starting points.
Progress and attainment through marking
At Chestnuts children reflect on their learning on a daily basis. Teachers mark all work against a success criteria which is shared with the children. Each piece of work is given a moving on comment and children respond to this in green pen. This reflective marking system has resulted in children becoming self critical and independent learners. This in turn means that they make good progress and achieve results broadly in line with national Averages at all stages.
