Dahl class 2019 - 2020
PLEASE LOOK AT THE SUMMER 2 WEEK 1 - 01.06.20 - HOME LEARNING PAGE FOR ALL THE LEARNING RESOURCES REQUIRED FOR THE FIRST WEEK BACK AFTER HALF TERM.
Friday 8th May 2020
Hello Dahl class,
Just a quick reminder to hit the Home Learning button for all the informtion for next week's work. If you have any questions do not hesitate to get in touch.
Thursday 2nd April 2020
Just to let you know I will now be writing to the class on the Tapestry website. This is just so that all the messages and the work and pictures you hand in are in the same place. Of course that does not mean you can't email me at any time, I will still be checking the class email regularly. Also, the home lerning tab is still working, it is just the mesages that are moving over.
Wednesday 1st April 2020
Happy April Fools Day. Have you been playing any tricks on each other? If so I want to hear about them. I have been sent more wonderful pictures of your work and images of what you have been up to. Daniel has done some fabulous maths, Lochan some amazing English. The pictures I have been sent of Maggie baking biscuits inspired me to cook with my daughter today. It really is important to make sure we have fun during the day as well as study. Have any of you been continuing to use incredibox? If you like music Gareth Malone, the choir master, he has been doing a choir via you tube, have any of you been doing that? Or, if you prefer dancing (and I know how many of you are strictly fans because we have had a million conversations about it), Oti Mabuse is doing dance lessons for kids to popular tunes.
Speak soon, stay safe.
Tuesday 31st March 2020
First, can I just apologise to the people who had sent in work over the past couple of days, but had not heard back from me. For some reason nothing had come into the Dahl class account (I have no idea why) which is why there was no reply.
So, here we are in week two, some of you have slipped into a solid routine - well done. For others it, understandably, feels like the second month - I heard two of my daughters friends tell her, over the internet, how today was, "the worst day of my life!"
I have to say how pleased and proud I am with the work that has been sent to me so far. The concentration and hard work that has obviously been in use is amazing. I also love getting the messages about what you are up to (although the sound of Annie's mud kitchen did scare me a little).
Mr GIlbert and I are working hard on what work to give you after Easter, so don't worry about being left with nothing to do. If you would like some extra French in the meantime try using Duolingo, which is free, as it makes you speak, listen and write the language.
Friday 27th March 2020 - Only a week!
Hi Dahl Class,
I find it incredible to think that it has only been a week since school has been shut. It feels so much longer and I am missing you all. However, you are being kept safe and that is what matters.
I am so happy that some of you have kept in touch via email email, both show me your work and to ask questions. Please do remember I am still here if you need me. I know it is hard to settle down to study, getting my daughter to work every day is a battle. Eventually, I showed her Yuna's very impressive home learning work and explained that if that was what somebody in year 3 can do, then she (in year 5) should work just as hard! Aren't you pleased you don't have a mum who is a teacher!
Thinking of you all,
Stay in touch.
Tuesday - 24th March - 2020
It might already feel like you have been stuck inside for a year, but we will get through this. Helping my daughter with her year 5 work has proved really interesting, I am learning about all sorts of rivers I never knew existed before!
Some of you have already sent me pictures of the work you did yesterday which is amazing! I can't tell you how proud I am to see you are settling down and doing the work set because I know how hard that is to do. Please do send me more or send me emails about things you are finding interesting. I really do want to know how you are all getting on.
Monday 23rd March 2020 - How did it go?
So today was the first day of home learning. Was it alright? Have you survived? I hope some of you joined in with Joe Wicks, the body coach, on You Tube for the morning PE session. I put that on for my daughter and somehow found myself doing it as well. If you missed it don't worry he will be doing a live session every weekday at 9.30.
Don't forget to let me know if you are having any problems that I can help with. I will be checking my email at least twice a day, firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember to take a picture of at least one piece of work done this week by Friday, writing or pictures, so I can have a look.
Keep taking care,
Friday 20th March - Where to start.......
Hello to all the families and carers of Dahl class,
It is impossible to properly comprehend what is going on at the moment and it must be so confusing for your children. I, as all the teachers are, am incredibly sad that we don't know when we will next see the children. We are going to miss them, but keeping them safe is the single most important things we can do.
If you click on the Home Learning button you will see the work schedule that Mr Gilbert and I have created for the next two weeks. Do keep checking on this page for extra infomation or additional work.
Thinking of you all,
I hope you had a wonderful half term, I am sure it whizzed by. For this half term we are reading the Fireworker-Maker's Daughter by the incredibly imaginative Phillip Pullman. Please do get a copy if you can and read ahead with your child. I am sure you will enjoy it as well.
The spelling for the weeks ahead are listed below, please do ask them to practice, it is really important.
